The Director of Air Worthiness Standards of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Engr Ita Awak will on April 28, 2019 be honored by the Ahta Oro VII, His Royal Majesty Ovong Hon Edet Isemin, with the Chieftaincy title of Okete Okete Oro. The event will take place at the Oron Civic Center at 10 am.
The Enwang-born, aviation expert will be honored for his spirited fight for the rights and interests of the Oro people of Akwa Ibom state. He has taken any opportunity to call for redress in the marginalization of Oro land in the scheme of things in the state.
Ovong Engr Awak, before his appointment as Director of Air Worthiness Standards at NCAA, was the vocal Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom state. He served as Commissioner for Information in the administration of Obong Victor Attah as governor of Akwa Ibom state.
Ovong Engr Ita Awak is a product of Nigerian Aviation College, where he studied Aeronautical Engineering. He has worked in many airlines and other aviation platforms.
Since his appointment as DAWS, he has been quietly championing for the federal government to come and participate in the development of the Ibom Airport Maintenance Repair hanger. Recently he led a team of Aviation Inspectors to inspect the MRO facilities at the airport.
Engr Awak is married with children.
