A’IBOM HEAD OF SERVICE COMMENDS LABOUR LEADERS FOR THEIR SUPPORTIVE ROLE.

The Akwa Ibom State Head of Civil Service Elder Effiong Essien has commended labour leaders for their supportive role in facilitating the realization of Government policies.


The Head of Civil Service, said this at the Nigerian Labour Congress Secretariat during the 17th NLC Rain school 2019,with the theme: “The future of work Decent Work and the Challenge for Nigeria Working Class.”


Elder Effiong Essien Maintained that Government has reciprocated the support of labour leaders by prioritising workers’ welfare for serving and retired personnel through the prompt payment of salaries and pension and the ongoing effort at clearing backlog of gratuities.


He Explained that many Units of the houses are ready for allocation to workers on rent to own basis at two locations, Ikot Ntuen Nsit and Ikpedip Ibiono /Itak Ikono.
The Head of Civil Service added that aside from providing opportunity for “Experience Sharing knowledge, Impartation and reigniting the flame of unionism, the Rain School also Provides a unique Opportunity for comrades from diverse culture, races, Nationalities, Ideologies and Working Environments, to meet in an atmosphere of strong spirit of comradeship thereby bridging the existing Economic and Socio-political Gab,faster Economic Integration, Unity and world peace.”


The National President the Nigerian Labour Congress, Comrade Ayuba Wabba in his speech, commended the State Government for its favourable disposition to workers welfare through the prompt salaries and pensions payment, in addition to the on-going effort at clearing backlog of gratuities owed by successive administrations, as well as Workers housing Scheme instituted to enable workers own houses while in service.


On the new Minimum wage, the NLC National President Said Labour will not relent in engaging Governments to ensure that the minimum wage are paid to enhance the living standard of Nigerian Worker.


He assured that labour still insists that the minimum wage implementation takes effect from the date it was sign into law by President Mohammed Buhari.


Comrade Ayuba added That Nigerian workers also have the right to quality living as their counterparts in other climes.


On His part,the state Chairman of NLC, Comrade Sunny James, thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for his sincere Concern to Workers welfare and Support to Labour including the Donation of 18 seaters Bus to the Women Committee Which was earlier Commissioned the National President Ayuba Wabba.


He made a case for Governments intervention in the industrial issues in the Jubilee Syringe company Onna and in the Unified Local Government Service.


He Commended the Head of Civil service Elder Effiong Essien for his effort at Ensuring the release of 2017/2018 Promotion.


The 17th NLC Rain School Attracted Participants from Liberia, Ghana, Zambia and other international Labour Organizations.
