Oro Patriotic League, a socio-political youth group in Oron has called on Governor Udom Emmanuel to honour the one term agreement he reached with Oro leaders before his election in 2015.
The league made the call in a press release signed by the International Coordinator-General, Comrade Etim Bassey and Secretary-General, Asuquo Ulo.
Oro Patriotic League said that it was forced to cry out after Governor Udom Emmanuel desperately pleaded with the people of Akwa Ibom State to give him a second term at a church service in Uyo last Sunday.
Oro Patriotic League said that they were in possession of the agreement which they intend to make public if the governor continued his second term campaign which is in violation of the agreement and an affront to his boss and predecessor, Senator Godswill Akpabio who negotiated the agreement.
The league which is a non-partisan league said that Oro people were all out to get the governorship in 2019 through PDP and APC.
Oro Patriotic League saluted Senator Akpabio for insisting on the agreement in spite of blackmail and insults from Udom’s supporters, in particular Mr. Ephraim Inyang, the commissioner of works.
Oro Patriotic League called on Senator Akpabio not to be worried by the leakage of sensitive government documents against him by the Udom government through Ephraim Inyang to EFCC last month after Udom’s government had done the same thing last year.
Oro Patriotic League also saluted the courage of the godfather, Sir Emem Akpabio for standing firm behind the Oro cause even after the termination of his road contract in Oron by Udom because Sir Emem Akpabio called a meeting of two politicians per local government in his house to show them the agreement.
The league appealed to the Akpabio brothers to remain firm in their support for the enthronement of an Oro governor in 2019.
Oro Patriotic League also saluted Governor Udom Emmanuel’s media aide from Eket for patriotically helping Sir Emem Akpabio to circulate the agreement to leading Akwa Ibom politicians including Senator Nelson Effiong and commended the aide who also served under Akpabio for keying into the age long brotherhood between Oro and Eket.
Oro Patriotic League saluted Senator Nelson Effiong and the two Oro governorship aspirants in APC, Barr. Asuquo Asuquo Okpo and Dr. Edet Efretuei for coming out to contest and for insisting on the agreement to be honoured.
Oro Patriotic League also urged Hon. Victor Antai, commissioner of culture and tourism to accept the call of his people to resign and contest the 2019 governorship election in PDP.
The league condemned in totality the ill-treatment of Hon. Victor Antai by Governor Udom Emmanuel because of fear of Victor Antai’s governorship ambition and called on the commissioner not to be intimidated but to continue to stand up for the interests of his people by insisting on the agreement to be honoured.
Oro Patriotic League accordingly called on other Oro PDP members not to continue to hide their governorship ambition and to declare it on time as their APC brothers have done.
