APC Aspirants Forum Calls For Internal Democracy in the Party, Commends President Buhari on Fight Against Insurgency

The South South zone of the All Progressives Congress Aspirants Forum, has called on the leadership of the party to ensure the enthronement of internal democracy within the party as a means of, not only deepening democracy in the country, but ensuring cohesion, transparency and unity of purpose within the party. This call was contained in a communiqué issued by the forum after their meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State held on February 13, 2020.
The APC South South Aspirants Forum, also passed a vote of confidence on the Nigerian President, Muhammedu Buhari on his spirited effort to rid the North Eastern part of the country of insurgency and terrorist activities.
“We hereby pass a vote of confidence on the President and commander in chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari, GCFR for doggedly fighting corruption, tackling insurgency, massively building infrastructure, and restoring the dignity of Nigeria in the comity of nations,” the Forum noted.
The forum noted with regret the dethronement of the APC governor elect in Bayelsa by the nation’s Supreme Court and urged the party to ensure that the party is never again exposed to such ridicule.
Promising to commence a moral rectitude campaign, the forum said, “We hereby resolve and declare to lead an urgent national campaign to promote moral uprightness, integrity, transparency, and rectitude in the APC. Never again should our great Party face loss or humiliation such as in the Bayelsa state debacle”.
Continuing the forum stated, “We view with concern the prevalent state of factions and disunity created by certain Party leaders and political office holders and we call on all stakeholders in the South South and the nation at large to bury their differences and close ranks in the collective interest of our Party and for the benefit of our people.
“To enhance effectiveness and robustness and consistent with the natural peculiarity of the south south, a committee is hereby set up to explore beneficial and sustainable opportunities in the oil and gas industry for the wellbeing of the APC Aspirants Forum, South South Zone”.
The forum called on the party to look the way of the South South zone of the country in it’s permutations for 2023.
“Moreover, we propose that a special presentation should be made to Mr. President that the South South should be given a special attention if the APC wants to make a headway in 2023, the communiqué stated.
Part of the communique read, “We propose the setting up of a Strategic Action Plan committee to draw up an action plan/road map to advise the national leadership of APC’AF and the APC on the progressive way forward.
“We propose that for equity and fairness, those Aspirants who were promised appointments in the National Assembly and which have not been actualised should be given priority consideration in future opportunities.
“Beneficiaries of contracts or appointments should donate 2.5% of their net income to the Forum Secretariat.
The meeting had in attendance Hon. Patty Etete Inemeh, Deputy National Coordinator; Hon. Otumba James Udoma, South South Zonal Coordinator; Prof. Eyo Nyong, Deputy South South Zonal Coordinator; Hon. Samuel Mel Ikpa, South South Zonal Publicity Secretary; Dr. Chris Enoch, Akwa Ibom State Coordinator; Hon. Frank Ossai, Delta State Coordinator; Hon. Essessien Edem, Cross River State Coordinator; Hon. Tony Nsongurua, Akwa Ibom state secretary, Hon. David Irek, Cross River State Secretary as well as Delegates from all the six states of the South South Zone.
