A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Chairman of the Criminal Justice Reform Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, Chief Arthur Obi Okafor has commended the people of Anambra State for turning out enmasse to exercise their franchise despite the heavy military presence during Saturday’s gubernatorial election in the state.
He expressed satisfaction with the people of state for their peaceful conduct during the election. The learned silk stated that the large turn out of electorates for the election was a manifestation of the confidence the people of the state have in the Nigerian project and in the democratic process.
Chief Okafor stressed that while awaiting the reports of groups and institutions that were on ground to monitor the conduct of election, including NBA Election Monitoring Committee, set up by Mr. A. B. Mahmoud, SAN, OON, President of the association, his assessment and feelers coming in, shows that election in most local government areas is peaceful.
