- The transition chairman of Itu Local Government Area, Mrs. Elsie Esara has indicted Governor Udom Emmanuel over non release of statutory monthly allocation of the Local Government Areas in the State. The embattled Esara revealed this while responding to questions at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly plenary on Wednesday.
- Mrs Esara was asked by Hon. Nse Ntuen the member representing Essien Udim State Constituency, if she has been holding monthly Finance and General Purpose Committee Meeting with the Local Government Exco to deliberate on how to spend the monthly allocation of the Local Government Area. Esara in her response to the question on the floor of the house said ‘’ the monthly allocation of the local government has not been coming so we don’t hold such meetings’’
Mrs Elsie Esara who was grilled for over 3 hours in the floor of the House added that she was only working with the internally generated revenue in the Local Government Area. It could be recalled that Governor Udom Emmanuel had on several occasions denied the allegation of tampering with the statutory allocation of the Local of the Areas in the State.
Mrs Elsie Esara the transition chairman of Itu Local Government Area is currently investigated by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly over a petition written to the house by some members of Itu Transition Committee accusing her of embezzling council funds, especially the internally generated revenue accruing to the local government council.
