Just a week after all of Uruan availed themselves of local government election ward tour to show appreciation to Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State for his massive human and infrastructure interventions in their area, two of their four clans have come out to re-echo the unanimous sentiments. The people of Southern Uruan (comprising southeast and south south clans) say they have never had it so good under any administration.
Speaking on their behalf, their son, Mr. Okon Okon, praised the governor for his verifiable love for Uruan. He reeled out a long list of projects that Gov. Emmanuel has dotted the Local Government Area with.
They include cattle ranch in Adadia (southeast), completion of Akwa Prime Poultry in Mbiaya (north), as well as Unity Estate, Ibiaku Issiet (south south). Others are 19 km Anua-Mbak-Issiet Road, 4.5 km Mbiatok-Mbiaya Road, 8.9 km Nduetong-Ibiaku Uruan Road, 11 km Mbiaya-Mbiakong-Idu Road and 1.2 km Road around Atlantic FM and its environs in Idu (central), among others.
Furthermore, Mr. Okon Okon who hails from Ekpene Ibia in Southern Uruan Ward 1 (of the southeast clan) also thanked the governor profusely for talent-spotting many Uruan sons and daughters and deploying them in positions of service and leadership.
He described others and himself, who is the Executive Chairman of Board of Internal Revenue, as Uruan beneficiaries of what he called ‘the Udom magnanimity’.
He explained that Uruan have every right ‘to collapse into one political file behind Gov. Udom Emmanuel ahead of 2019, as they did and continue to do by the massive LGA-wide defections into the People’s Democratic Party’.
He went on: ‘My brother, let me tell you. Uruan people no matter our political persuasions, we have decided to bond with Gov. Emmanuel. In my ward alone, when Chairman Henry Isaiah Udofia and his entourage visited, over 400 members of the All-Progressives Congress all decided on their own to come back home. It was so in all the other wards. Uruan people are known for our gratitude and courage. We are with Gov. Udom Emmanuel’.
The BIR boss used the opportunity to thank Uruan people for sticking with the governor. He reassured that Uruan stood to gain even more when the governor returns in 2019. He pledged the continued loyalty and gratitude of Uruan appointees, the political class and indeed the entire populace of Uruan to the governor well beyond 2019!
