The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Obong Nsima Ekere has charged members of Akwa Ibom community in Abuja to be good representatives of the people of Akwa Ibom State. The NDDC boss stated this when members of the association visited him in his Abuja home recently.
The Managing Director, said that the people of the state are known for great virtues and values and urged the members to maintain the highest standards in their dealings with their brothers and others they come in contact with at the Federal Capital Authority.
“Be good ambassadors of the state in Abuja, live in peace with your brothers here and others you interact with on daily basis. Our people are known for the best standards in everything they do and I urge you to always maintain such high standards. I welcome you Timmy home and promise to be attending your meetings when the call of duties permit and when I receive your invitation for meetings,” Ekere told the members.
The NDDC boss promised to help in fast-tracking the processing of the Certificate of Occupancy for the community’s Akwa Ibom House property in the FCT, as well as “give free professional advice on the best method and practice for the development of the property in Abuja.”
Earlier in his address during the visit, the president Comarade Tommy E. Okon, commended the president of Nigeria, Mohamandu Buhari for finding Obong Ekere worthy of such appointment, adding that the appointment was well made considering the vast experience and administrative pedigree of Obong Nsima Ekere in public and private sectors.
He noted, with joy the impact the MD and NDDC have already made in Akwa Ibom and the entire Niger Region generally.
“We note with joy the impact you have so far made in Akwa Ibom State and the entire Niger Delta region. We commend you for the great work you are doing in the area of area of roads, schools renovation, skills training, women empowerment, education, health and growth of the economy of the region. We urge you to do more because we know you are a man of immense capacity,” Comrade Okon stated.
The president further pleaded with the NDDC Managing Director to assist the Akwa Ibom Community with the processing of the Certificate of Occupancy of their landed property in Abuja. He urged the MD to “also consider our qualified members to assist you in delivering on your mandate at the NDDC.”
“We also urge you to support and encourage indigenous people and companies to do business with the NDDC and other MDA’s of the FGN as a means of further empowering the people of the region. We pray for you to succeed at the NDDC and we pray for your future aspirations and endeavors. We are mobilizing our members to get their PVC and at the appropriate time encourage them to go home and vote,” comrade Okon said.
