Inoyo Donates Copies of Anietie Usen’s Village Boy, Audacious Journalism to Some Institutions in Akwa Ibom State.

In furtherance of his commitment to quality education in Akwa Ibom State, the immediate past Executive Vice Chairman of ExxonMobil Subsidiary Companies in Nigeria, Mr. Udom Inoyo , over the weekend , announced donation of several copies of Anietie Usen’s recently published ‘Village Boy’ and his earlier classic, ‘Audacious Journalism’ to several Institutions in the State.They include ; the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State and to three public tertiary institutions in the state.

Copies of ‘Village Boy’, a 192-plus-page fictionalized true life story of a tenacious African orphan, and ‘Audacious Journalism’, a 706-plus-page classical compilation of the author’s journalistic writings over the years, are to be distributed to NUJ, Akwa Ibom State; Departments of Communication Arts , University of Uyo, Uyo; Department of Mass Communication, Akwa Ibom State University, Obioakpa Campuse and the Department of Mass Communication, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua.

Mr. Udom Inoyo , who was Guest of Honour during the book launch of ‘Village Boy’ in Uyo on Friday , commended the author and veteran journalist , Anietie Usen for deepening knowledge, broadening scholarship, reliving memories of the good old days as well as widening the frontiers of African literature.

He described himself and several others in attendance as varieties of the village boy in Anietie Usen’s prose and noted that while the book would help old village boys to recollect with nostalgia memorable experiences of the past, it would afford contemporary city boys and girls the rare opportunity to garner first hand experiences of a village boy.

Earlier on, the Chairman of the occasion, Group Managing Director of SO&U Group, Mr. Udeme Ufot commended the enormous contributions of the author to journalism, literature and scholarship and encouraged all and sundry to afford a forage into the pages of Anietie Usen’s Village Boy.

Dignitaries at the book launch included Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, MFR, represented by his SSA on Media, Mr. Ekikere Umoh; book presenter, Dr. Emmanuel Abraham; book reviewer, Dr. Arnold Udoka, veteran journalist and erstwhile Commonwealth Editor of the Year, Ray Ekpu; APC National Secretary, Sen. John James UdoEdeghe; Dr. Ita Udosen ; Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke; Abom Tony Esu and a host of others.
