Udom Under Fire as Angry Youths Invade Official Facebook Page

*demand jobs, end of AKSU strike, payment of gratuities

Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has been under fire today, Friday, May 28, as angry youths of the state have invaded his official Facebook page, demanding jobs, end of strike for the staffers of Akwa Ibom State University, and payment of gratuities to retirees and next of kins of deceased ones.

The irate youths took over the governor’s page Friday morning while the live broadcast of his interview with Channels TV crew on Sunrise Daily was being shared.

The programme was part of the events to mark the Sixth anniversary of the governor whose intention had been to showcase his scorecard for the past six years.

But the youths had no regards for the governor who spoke on issues ranging from power, the aviation sector, education, healthcare, agriculture, commerce to industry.

The youths also prompted the TV crew to ask the governor about the relocation of Ibaka Deep Seaport, the astronomical rise in unemployment which they viewed as directly conflicting with the industrialization claim.

The governor who denied the relocation of Ibaka Seaport, however admitted that the federal government had withdrawn it’s 20 percent equity from the project, an issue the Oro people have repeatedly been saying.
