The people of Ikpa and Mbiakong in Uruan local Government Area now have course to heave a sigh of relief as the Executive Chairman of Uruan LGA, Rt Hon Henry Isaiah Udofia has directed the immediate commencement of remedial work on the old bridge linking northern Uruan to central Uruan.
This is in furtherance of Udofia’s avowed determination to embark on life-touching and people oriented projects in the Area.
Speaking during an on – the – spot assessment of the dilapidated bridge, the council boss empathized with the people of the affected communities, and promised his administration’s readiness to undertake a stopgap measures on the bridge.
Rt. Hon. Udofia who acknowledged that construction work approved by the state government on the famous Ikpa road, which stretches Mbiakong is ongoing, expressed confidence that the administration of His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel will complete and commission the road before the expiration of his tenure
While hopefully looking forward to the completion of the Ikpa Uruan road project by the State Government, the council boss said it was however necessary for remedial work on the bridge, which to him is the only and shortest route linking the people of Northern part of Uruan with the Local Government headquarters.
According to the council’s helmsman, the repair of Ikpa-Mbiakong bridge became necessary as its deplorable state has become highly dangerous to commuters.
He said the completion will promote ease of doing business in the area, especially as the process of remodeling Idu market to a status of an Ultra Modern Market by his administration is ongoing.
It is on record that the Mbiakong – Ikpa road with a distance of 3.0km is one of the 13 roads in Uruan Local Government that is being graded by Rt. Hon. Henry Isaiah Udofia’s administration in 2020.
