Akwa Ibom NUJ Inaugurates Press Week, Press Centre Management Committee The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council has inaugurated two committees to chart a course for the development of the Union and a successful milestone event.
The inaugurated committees are the 2017 NUJ Press Week Committee and the Press Centre Management Committee.
The Committees where inaugurated at the NUJ Congress held yesterday June 22, 2027, at the NUJ Press Centre Uyo.
Members for the 2017 NUJ Press Week Committee are: Udeme Utip (Chairman), Ufot Udokang (Secretary), Edidiong Obot, Anie Akpabio, Bassey Wille, Elizabeth Awak, Uduak Ibanga, Aniefiok Udonquak, Basil Ikpe, NsikakAbasi Inyang, Akaninyene Ukpong, Mfon Uyeh, Edidiong Ibah, Mercy Okon, Daniel Francis, Ikechukwu Agbamegube, Nsikak Ikrok, and Imaobong Linus.
Boniface Esu (Chairman), David Augustine (Secretary) Abasiekong Abasiekong, Mabel Ekanem, Vivian Essiet and Tony Etim are to serve in the NUJ Press Centre Management Committee.
The Chairman of NUJ, Akwa Ibom State Council, Elder Patrick Albert said the Press Centre Committee will work independently to have records of assets and liability of the Press Centre which will help in its management.
He said the Committee is empowered to care for facilities at the Centre including the management of the NUJ Club House, and upcoming Two Storey Complex.
Commenting on the 2017 NUJ Press Week Committee, the NUJ helmsman noted that the Committee will have a task to ensure the age long tradition of the Union to honour members who have distinguished themselves through their reports is upheld.
He said through the Committee, the Union will also appreciate publicly those who have made their marks in different endeavors thus spur them to do more and also serve as a motivation to others.
He wished them well in their task.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh witnessed the inauguration.
