Cross River Guber 2023: “I don’t talk about capacity, I talk of competence” – Amb Toyo


A front line aspirant for the 2023 gubernatorial election, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo has reiterated her competence to govern Cross River and set the course to rebuild the State.

Ambassador Toyo declared this on her tour of the Cross River State Central Senatorial District, comprising six Local Government Areas of Ikom, Etung, Obubra, Yakurr, Abi and Boki. The Gubernatorial hopeful consulted with stakeholders across the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) where she interacted with Elders of the Party, Chapter/ Ward Executives, Women and Youths.

She pledged to find solutions to the debt burden of the State, through renegotiation amongst other mechanisms, while streamlining the state’s internally generated revenue.

Mrs. Toyo promised to engage her wide network of international contacts towards the economic advancement of the state. She promised to utilize the state’s assets like Obudu Cattle Ranch, Tinapa and others as part of her economic roadmap.

The PDP faithful in the Central Senatorial District expressed their support for the Aspirant and pledged to carry the message to the nooks and crannies of the communities.

Speaking on behalf of the Ward Chairmen of Ikom and representing the Chapter Chairman, the Chair of Chairmen, Hon Ujong noted: ‘Ambassador Mrs. Nkoyo Toyo is the right person for the job. She has been involved in many positive outcomes of this state. She is the best aspirant’.

He pleaded for all to join the train and support Mrs. Nkoyo Toyo to bring back the state’s lost glory.

Responding at the Ugep town hall meeting, Hon Obasesam Omini Ibiang expressed her profound joy in Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo’s aspiration.

Her words: ‘I am particularly happy today with the fact that it is no ordinary woman who is aspiring to govern the state but Ambassador Mrs. Nkoyo Toyo who has severally been tested and trusted to deliver on the mandate’.

She declared further, ‘Ambassador Toyo has never disappointed in her responsibilities, so I know she will do the job well. I am so proud of her’.

The women sang in solidarity with Mrs. Nkoyo and the men agreed there should be a paradigm shift in the governance of Cross River State and Ambassador Mrs. Nkoyo Toyo was the right Woman for the job.
