Representatives of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday were absent as proceedings commenced in the case filed by Senator Ita Enang against the emergence of Mr Akanimo Udofia as governorship flagbearer of the party in Akwa Ibom State.
Ntufam Mba E. Ukweni, SAN is the lead counsel to the plaintiff. Achu Achu, Ndifreke Akpan, Peter Akpan and Treasure Odey also appeared as counsels to the plaintiff.
Also in court, was the representative of INEC.
However, there was no counsel appearing for the APC, which is the 2nd Defendant in the matter. Counsel to the plaintiff, however told the court that the party was duly served.
Counsel to the plaintiff also informed the court that the bailiff was having difficulties in serving the court summons to the 1st Defendant.
The plaintiff’s grouse as contained in his statement in the suit number: FHC/UY/CS/114/2022, is that the governorship primary, which produced Mr Udofia, “was done in outright contravention of the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.”
The presiding judge, Justice A. A. Okeke adjourned the matter to June 28, 2022.
