Lawyers in Akwa Ibom State have been asked to see the service of God as the first calling, even as they pursue their legal careers. The charge was given this Sunday, July 8, 2018, at the Providence Baptist Church, Uyo by Rev Ekerete Obot Inyang, while preaching at a church thanksgiving service as part of this years NBA Uyo branch Bar week.
The Baptist preacher said that the legal profession, just as any other profession, should be seen as secondary to the ultimate charge by Christ that Christians should occupy until He comes back. He stated that every life should be lived pleasing God and doing the will of God. He noted that for a successful career, every professional must allow the Christ ordained service to dominate, noting that whatever any person is doing on earth is only a secondary occupation.
Whatever you are doing as a profession or occupation is only a secondary occupation. Our primary occupation on earth is to do what the master did, while on earth. Our life must reflect His work wherever we found ourselves. Everywhere we found ourselves should be treated as a platform for carrying out Gods mission in our spheres of influence. You are expected to occupy for Christ; you must step out in faith trusting in Him, because He is a faithful God who does not fail. In doing this, we must remember that at the end of time there will be the period for everyone to account to God for His service, Rev Inyang admonished.
In her speech at the church service, the Chairman of NBA branch, Uyo, Eno-Obong Akpan Esq, said the branch was in church to thank Hod for the mercy and grace He extended to members throughout the year. She recalled that one year has passed since he was elected into officer as chairman and described the year as highly successful.

She thanked elders of the Bar and other stakeholders for their steadfast support and encouragement, and promised to continue to render selfless service, together with her executives, to ensure that the dreams and desires of the branch are met.
