Sir Asuquo Inuikim, Methodist Prelate Obtain Doctorate, Grand Fellow Awards

Sir (Dr) Asuquo Inuikim Obon, KJW has been awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree of Science (Honoris Causa) by the Welsey University, Ondo, even as the Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence (Dr) Samuel Chukwuemaka Kanu Uche, JP, was also honoured as Grand Fellow of Wesley University, Ondo (GFW).

Sir Inuikim and Prelate Uche were honoured during the 9th & 10th convocation ceremony of the institution on Saturday, June 11, at the High Chief Sir Olabanji Akingbule Lecture Theatre at the University’s Take-off-Site, Km3, Ondo-Ife Road, Ondo City, Ondo State, where 166 graduands were sent to the job market.

Asuquo Inuikim was awarded Doctor of Science, “in recognition of his numerous contributions to humanity, within and outside Africa, also on the understanding of his commitment to University education generally, and Wesley University, Ondo in particular”.

Conferring the award on the Knight of John Wesley, the Chancellor of Wesley University, Ondo, Dr Paul Enenche who was represented by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Obeka Samuel congratulated Sir Inuikim on his meritorious conferment.

He added that Dr Inuikim was deserving of the honour, in line with his spirited contributions to the growth of the institution.

The Vice Chancellor said, “By the authority vested in me, and in accordance with the provisions of the University’s statutes, I confer on you, the Degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc) of the Wesley University, Ondo with the rights and privileges attached thereto”.

In his remarks, Engr Asuquo Inuikim thanked the authorities of the institution for the recognition, saying he was delighted that his service and contributions to the institution and to humanity was being observed.

Sir Inuikim who was flanked by his wife, Mrs Edak Inuikim; his brother, DC Eyo Inuekim, KJW, said, “I have worked round the campus. I also know of the permanent site. I will continue to interact with the Vice Chancellor to lend my support to the University”.

Categories of awards at the ceremony included: the Prestigious Peace Leadership Award of Wesley presented to the President, Democratic Republic of Congo, HE Felix Tshisekedi; the Prestigious Wesley Heritage Award to Prelates Emeritus, Dr Sunday Mbang and Dr Sunday Makinde, and others and the Fellow of Wesley University, Ondo.

It could be recalled that Sir Inuikim’s first Honorary Doctorate Degree of Business Management had come in 2018 by the St. Louise African University, Benin Republic.

Others who joined the community leader for the event were: members of the Fortune Club International, Mrs Iquo Inwang, Mr Lemmy Okon, Esio Jimmy, Comrade Inemesit Ebu, Mr Boyo, Rev Chinonye, Rev Ifiok Ekong and Engr. Cyril Okoror.
